Frequently Asked Questions About Wedding Photography
- What if you get sick?
- In the event of severe sickness or injury that would prevent me from photographing your wedding, I would be contractually obligated to ensure an equally professional and competent photographer was available to photograph your wedding. That’s a pretty strong statement – and to guarantee that promise is fulfilled, that statement is backed by a $2M liability insurance policy which provides me with the funds necessary should I need to fly a photographer in from Europe at the last second to photograph your wedding!
- What happens if your equipment breaks? Do you have backup equipment?
- My philosophy over the years has been, “It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.” Therefore, I bring two of everything: two cameras, multiple lenses, flashes, batteries, and memory cards. Digital negatives are backed-up on site as well, to ensure photos are protected even before your wedding day is over.
- What happens if it rains (inclement weather)?
- You’ll get wet. But, you’ll still have excellent photographs playing in the rain. It’s been said that rain on a wedding day is good luck! Let’s make lemonade out of lemons. We can view rain as an impediment, or as an opportunity to create some truly memorable photos!
- Do you offer a military discount?
- Yes, a 10% discount will be offered to brides and grooms who are active duty, have served in the United States military, or are part of military reserves, regardless of branch or division.
- Do you back up the wedding photos?
- You can feel rest assured that every effort will be made to safe-guard your wedding photographs. Digital negative are backed up both during your wedding, on-site using a portable hard-drive, and after your wedding on optical discs which are then stored off-site in a safe deposit box.
- How many days will it take to receive our digital proofs and finished photographs?
- Digital proofs will be made available within ten business days of your wedding day, but are usually posted a lot sooner. After the digital proofs are posted online, clients are asked to select their favorite images which are then made the priority in the entire collection. Once clients have selected their favorite images, the average time to receive all of the finished photographs (favorites and all others) is about 3 months.
A typical example might go something like this: The wedding day is Saturday, May 1. Digital proofs will be posted no later than Friday, May 14. The clients login and select their favorites on June 10. They would receive all of their finished photographs no later than September 10.
- Can we purchase additional sets of image discs for friends or family members? What if our image disc set is lost, stolen, or damaged?
- Additional sets of image discs can be purchased for $75 each, provided you order the duplicate sets within 3 months of your wedding day. After 3 months of your wedding day or should your set of image discs become lost, damaged, or stolen you may purchase replacements for $100 per set.
- Do we need to pay extra for the photos’ copyrights in order to print our own photos?
- While I do not recommend using online, consumer photographic lab services to print your wedding photos, you certainly are free to go this route if you would like. I include a signed reprint permission letter with every wedding photography package legally permitting you to print your wedding photographs at any lab. Friends and family members can conveniently order prints from your wedding through our professional photographic lab.
- Do you require a deposit or contract in order for us to reserve you for our wedding day?
- A signed contract and deposit equal to 50% of the total wedding photography package price is required to book your wedding day.
